As a Minnesotan I tend to make fun of Iowans. Does anyone know what Iowa stands for? I Owe the World and Apology… Well from hence forth I will not make that stupid joke. Seems Iowans are a whole bunch smarter than the rest of the country except for Massachusetts and Connecticut. Iowa legalized gay marriage today and as of April 24 gays and lesbians can seek marriage licenses. Go Iowa! You can read the story here at MSNBC.

Go Iowa! I know a couple that live in Des Moines, that are now able to tie the knot. May the rest of the country follow in these footsteps
Good news, indeed. Let’s hope it won’t get overturned like what happened in California. Go Iowa!
The good news is that they can’t try to overturn it until 2012! If Californians had 3 years to see that the sky wasn’t going to fall, I’ll bet Prop 8 wouldn’t have passed.
Three years would have made a considerable difference.
Yay for Iowa. Now they are good for something other than corn. Mmmmmm, corn…..
Yay Iowa! As a Cali queer I’m especially happy that there’s one more equal rights state!
yep wonderful news, we even got Vermont too.
Hello, I’m a native Iowan so let me tell you a few other facts you may not know about my state:
1)highest literacy rate in the nation
2)highest per capita Playboy subscriptions
3)first in the nation to vote for Barack Obama even though the state is 97% white.
4)two universities in the top 75 in the world supported by a mere 2.9 million people.
5)Oh yeah, equal rights for gay people. Do you sense a link between education and human rights here?
Call me proud!

Iowa!! Who knew?!
Pricilla, yes, Iowa has wonderful corn, so does Minnesota.
Thorne, Right on!
Miranda, I saw that too, who didn’t? I hope we start to see a domino effect.
Karen, Education is the key, though I am not so sure about the Obama part but that’s a different blog. I’m sorry I ever made fun of you guys but it’s part of the rules…Minnesotans make fun of Iowans and they make fun of us. I won’t do it again.
Steph, exactly. Nice wholesome midwestern state not afraid of homosexuals ruining marriage for all the straights.
Congratulations to a Step forward!
I was just dancing happily for all my friends when this happened. And now there are two or three other states poised to make it happen too. Wonderful news! We in Canada are applauding.
